Lifelong Learning, Sunday, September 25, 10:30 a.m. St. Edward Parish
September 25 – Fr. Allen Celebrating the Jubilee Year:” Medicine of Mercy”
A number of the topics this year have focused on the “Corporal Works of Mercy” in celebration of the Jubilee Year of Mercy. Our program on September 25 will address the “Spiritual Works of Mercy.” There will be some brief video segments followed by discussion. As at all these programs, coffee and refreshments will be available. Lifelong Learning classes are held in Schaefer Hall (church basement / elevator accessible).
Pet Blessing, Saturday October 1, 10:00 a.m. St. Edward Parish
October 4 is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. St. Francis is the patron saint of nature and of animals. It is a custom in the Church to bless our companion animals on the Feast of St. Francis. There will be a blessing of pets at St. Edward on Saturday, October 1, at 10:00 in the church parking lot (corner of Wright Ave. and West Blvd.) In the event of rain, pets will be blessed in the Breezeway connecting the church and the school.
Mental Illness Awareness Week / Lifelong Learning, St. Richard Parish, Sunday October 2
Since 1990 the first full week in October has been designated by Congress as Mental Illness Awareness Week. On October 2 at 9:00 AM St Richard parish will celebrate Mass in honor of mental health professionals, care givers, advocates, friends, families, and individuals who live with mental illness.
Following Mass all are invited to stay for Lifelong Learning, presented in Vogel Hall (church basement accessible by elevator). The topic of Lifelong Learning will be Shining a Light on Mental Illness and Replacing Stigma with Hope. Presenters include Dr. Mike Boticki of NAMI Racine County (namiracinecounty.org) and Miss Racine, Haley Schonter.
