Confirmation I (9th) Confirmation II (10th) Confirmation III (11th - Sacramental Year)
Confirmation at St. Edward Parish is a three year program beginning in the 9th grade. Students in the 9th and 10th grades will learn about their Catholic faith in a variety of ways including; scripture study, prayer, large and small group discussions and service opportunities designed to help deepen their relationship with God and each other.
Confirmation is one of three sacraments of Initiation. It is through Baptism that we are initially received into God's family. The Sacrament of Confirmation completes the grace of Baptism by a special outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which seal or "confirm" our union with Christ and equip us for active participation in the life of the Church. The Eucharist, which is called the "Source and the Summit of Christian life", completes Christian Initiation.
Students who have reached the 11th grade are eligible to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. The 'confirmandi', as they are known, will continue their study of scripture, prayer and service to the parish and the community.
Classes meet on Sunday mornings in a "Mass and Class" format. As Catholics we believe that attending Mass and receiving the Eucharist is the foundation for any religious education program.
